Circumnavigation

Hoopa

Roy and Jeannine own an acre of land about an hour a half inland of Eureka. On my final day in Eureka, I was shuttled out to the Hoopa Reserve.  We toured the half acre garden and half-acre orchard, did some minor sprucing around the property, tended to a couple of beehives, walked down to the river, and then headed to hang out with the neighbors!  Autumn and TJ were something else.  Caretakers to a couple of properties in the relative proximity along with two young children, they were a delight to interact with.  We drank wine and ate focaccia.  Each in turn orated Maple's original work of fiction about unicorns playing until their tummies hurt. All the while breathing in the fresh air and soaking in the sights. Once again, consistent and substantial conversation has always been a coveted treasure to me; this road-trip has exacerbated my feelings on this account. Fresh perspectives, creative minds, and generous hearts.  What more can one ask for?  So glad to have encountered such a unique, yet not, scenario while in my travels.  Makes me think hard about the long-game and what endeavors truly excite me most.
