Circumnavigation

Eureka

I spent Tuesday to Sunday in the Eureka vicinity!  Longest time in one location thus-far.  This due to a series of opportune events and a household that offered a wonderful respite.  This household was that of a first cousin twice removed!  Before I get into the meat of what conspired... I learned in my time staying with Jeannine and Roy in Eureka that a connection need not depend upon age or even interest, it simply relies upon a willingness to forge the connection from both parties.  I contacted Jeannine when I knew I would be passing through, a simple text was all I deemed truly necessary and we coordinated a dinner.  Upon arriving for dinner it was brought to my attention that perhaps "Evan" was too vague, nevertheless Jeannine and Roy invited the quasi-unknown entity into their home (being me). I think this speaks volumes in and of itself.  It just so happened that Tuesday was Jeannine's last day of work for a bit, thus we had some quality family time for the following days.  We managed to jam so much (on top of the period of relaxation during the rain) that I had little time for naught else than observing!  For the sake of my sanity I will now use a list to try for a summation of all the activities that took place over the next four days.

  • Beer Night - brewed, transferred, and drank beer whilst snacking on fresh crab.

  • Rainy Eureka tour - Jeannine brought me all around Eureka during quite the downpour.

  • Beach tours - Drove to a variety of beaches, different sounds and sights at each. NorCal is something special indeed.

  • Agate combing - Don't tell the rangers.

  • Nightly dinners - This, I think, was the most enjoyable part of my stay. Consistent and substantial conversation has a way about it.

  • Aerobie - A better version of frisbee.

Plenty more! I can't just give up all of my stories in a bland list though!

I can't thank Jeannine and Roy enough for their contribution to the path I am on.
