Chapel Rock
Cold morning, made it tough to get out of bed but I once I got the burner on for coffee things started to pick up pace. I was packed and leaving the lot around 9:30. Arrived at the Chapel Trail entrance shortly thereafter and started on an 8 mile round-trip hike. The end destination of the hike was Chapel Rock... and I've got to admit, my first step onto the shores of Lake Superior sent chills through me. There is something "other" about the environment up here; so much packed into the peripheral waiting to be focused. It was odd to hear the sounds of the ocean and the familiar grit of sand underfoot. Hiked down the beach to get a closer look at the cliff faces. Do they call seagulls around here "lake-gulls"? Met two pretty unique individuals at the parking lot after I had done with the hike. More on that.
