Malibu
Malibuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Provided the surf and many, many, shouts. I hung around for two days surfing my tail off. A dream wave undoubtedly, I'm so glad to be arriving to the Californian coast in the off season. I got to surf the wave of my dreams (besides being backside the entire time) pretty much empty. Sunrise sessions in a wetsuit and afternoon sessions in boardshorts made the living easy. Only a handful of people in the water because the waves were "bad" and the water was "cold" made it an all you can eat buffet. This road trip was never intended to be a surf trip... quite glad I drove my board with me all this way though. I also did some re-arranging with a lot of valuables in my truck, after talking to quite a few people telling me horror stories of having their cars broken into... I got paranoid. Minimal effort, however, so I feel that it was a good call. Malibu was not the town to hang out in, so I left for Venice Beach as a way station before heading through Los Angeles. Very intimidated by the traffic, so I will attempt to traverse it in the wee hours of the morning to Dana Point. Just made it to Manhattan Beach to acquire some Wi-Fi and post up till the evening. The swell was pumping when I rolled into town, but a 9'6" was not the board to be using; so I simply spectated.
